FAVELA Double Bed by Fernando & Humberto Campana (2013) for the Italian manufacturer EDRA
The FAVELA Double Bed by the ingenious Campana Brothers (Fernando & Humberto Campana) is the latest addition (2013) to their FAVELA Collection for the Italian manufacturer EDRA. An excellent example of Design Povero and/or Arte Povera that confirms, once again, the versatility of these two hugely talented designers. The FAVELA Double Bed is structurally made with pinewood small boards of different sizes, glued and nailed together by hand one over the other. The slatted bed-base is made out of plywood (Dimensions: H 38 (120) cm x L 260 cm x W 250 cm).
This Bed forms part of a Five Beds Collection designed by the Campana Brothers for EDRA in 2013, which we intend to present to you in the near future. For the time being, we give you a sneak-peak through this video (courtesy of renowned photographer Emilio Tremolada & EDRA):

EDRA is one of the best and relatively new Italian manufacturers that was founded in 1987 in Tuscany (Northern Italy), a land rich in history, culture, art and artisanal mastery. The name derives from the Greek word “Exedra”, meaning a meeting place for philosophical discussion. EDRA proposes truly original designs born of an unprecedented union of tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and technology, inspired by a continuous quest for high performance, new forms and new materials. As a result, many of the company’s products have repeatedly been included in Design museums’ collections.
